INTRO
I have worked for many years with traditional woodprinting. In 2004 I discovered that the year-ring patterns of an ordinary plywood sheet could be used as a map. The lines in the pattern serve as exact height information for a virtual landscape.
---> Virtual Woodscape technique
Patterns in wood may trigger images of landscapes etcetera. Virtual Woodscape combines this with technology from the geosciences.
---> I found a nice sheet of plywood with fine detail and many knots. After a lengthy technical process slowly the landscape emerged. The images looked at the same time natural and alien, like from another planet.
